At the end of January 2024 the practical course “Laparoscopy in Urology” was held again in Olsztyn, prepared by the team of the Urology Clinic of the University Hospital No. 2. Dr. Jan Biziel. For over 20 years, dr hab. n. med. Piotr Jarzemski, prof. UMK and dr n. med. Sławomir Listopadzki organize workshops in the field of urological laparoscopy, sharing their extensive experience and educating many specialists and adepts of urology. From this year, dr Marcin Jarzemski and dr n. med. Bartosz Brzoszczyk, joined the course as co-chairs. The course took place in Olsztyn in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the UWM. This time, too, there was great interest in the training, and the course was conducted in two rounds.

On the first day, the students could learn the theoretical basics of laparoscopy and individual techniques of urological procedures, and in the afternoon they could start the practical part, which included exercises on laparoscopic trainers and previously prepared animal preparations. The next day was fully devoted to practical classes on live, anesthetized animals. Under the supervision of a tutor, each participant could independently practice tissue preparation, surgical suturing, vessel closure and perform laparoscopic nephrectomy.
