Dr Bartosz Brzoszczyk, MD, PhD – urology specialist, FEBU (Fellow of the European Board of Urology), and certified andrologist of the Polish Society of Andrology and the European Academy of Andrology – completed a two-week clinical and research fellowship at the Andrology and Gender Endocrinology Unit within the Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences at the University of Florence.
The fellowship was conducted under the direct supervision of Prof. Francesco Lotti, in a center led by Prof. Mario Maggi.
During his stay at this European Academy of Andrology reference center, Dr Brzoszczyk advanced his expertise in andrological ultrasound, including penile ultrasound (erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, hemodynamic assessment) and scrotal/testicular ultrasound (varicocele, focal lesions, fertility assessment), using standardized imaging techniques in line with EAA and ESUR guidelines.
The training also covered the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility, sexual dysfunctions, and hormonal disorders in men, with a strong emphasis on ultrasound as a key tool in modern andrology.
Prof. Francesco Lotti is a recognized expert in andrology and male genital ultrasound. He co-coordinates the European Academy of Andrology ultrasound school, is an active member of leading scientific societies (EAA, ESHRE, ESUR), and the author of nearly 100 scientific publications. He has also contributed to the development of diagnostic standards and the WHO Manual 2021 update.
The Andrology and Gender Endocrinology Unit at the University of Florence is a European Academy of Andrology reference center specializing in comprehensive male infertility care, sexual medicine, advanced andrological endocrinology, as well as scientific and educational activities at the European level.
