Prostate biopsy is an essential tool in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. This test involves taking samples of the prostate gland for histopathological examination using transrectal ultrasound. However, it is not always possible to visualize a suspicious lesion in an ultrasound examination, which is why it is so important to use MRI technology, magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate, and combine it with the ultrasound image in real time. This is what a fusion guided biopsy is all about. It allows for more precise localization of lesions suspected of being cancerous. The procedure itself takes only 15-30 minutes, is performed under local anesthesia and does not require hospitalization.
From now on, we perform fusion guided biopsy procedures under reimbursement by the National Health Fund. In case of prostate cancer suspision, please contact us by phone: +48 52 3655 306, +48 52 3655 308.
